Industrial isopropanol is a Chinese national standard (standard number GB/T 7814-2017), under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Chemical Standardization (TC63), with the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation as the competent authority. It was issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the Standardization Administration of China on December 29, 2017, and came into effect on July 1, 2018. This standard replaces GB/T 7814-2008, belongs to the product category, and its Chinese standard classification number is G17, and its international standard classification number is 71.080.60.

This standard specifies the technical requirements for industrial isopropanol, covering 14 test indicators including appearance, color, isopropanol content, moisture, acidity, evaporation residue, and carbonyl compounds. Test methods include Karl Fischer titration, gas chromatography, and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry. This standard applies to industrial isopropanol products produced by propylene hydration, acetone hydrogenation, and isopropyl acetate hydrogenation, and is modified to adopt the ASTM D770-05 international standard.
